Some companies deliberately destroy perfectly usable equipment putting it beyond economical repair in order to prevent the equipment from being linked to their company or organisation. We hope that the 2018 GDPR will go a long way to reversing this type of thinking in as much as all ITAD companies will have an obligation to protect the privacy and data of their customers. Failure to do so will result in large fines for the ITAD company and loss of reputation. WEEE-RecycleIT guarantee full GDPR compliance in all our activities and will protect your right to privacy as we have done for the last decade.

WEEE-RecycleIT are firm advocates of the circular economy and will offer a financial return on any modern IT equipment that is complete and working. We will always offer a free collection service for this type of equipment. All the data protection and privacy policy safeguards are in place when refurbishing the equipment. All identifying marks and stickers are removed, the BIOS is cleared and any firmware flashed to return the machine to an anonymous state.

The circular economy is restorative and regenerative by design. Our intention is to keep resources in use for as long as possible and extract the maximum life span from them. At the end of the product life cycle we pass the product onto our licensed recycle partners for material recovery and re-purpose.

A circular economy is an environmentally responsible solution to IT reuse and recycling

We understand that some companies have been fearful of taking the risk of having their equipment reused due to the potential of data leakage or equipment being identified and linked to their company or organisation. Some companies deliberately destroy perfectly usable equipment putting it beyond economical repair in order to prevent the equipment from being linked to their company then asking us to collect and dispose of it. We will always offer a free collection service for this type of equipment. All the data protection and privacy policy safeguards are in place when refurbishing the equipment. All identifying marks and stickers are removed, the BIOS is cleared and any firmware flashed to return the machine to an anonymous condition. We have adopted the practices of the circular economy and in our small way are adding to the growth of this proven business model by repairing and reusing a far greater amount of the equipment we collect.

A circular economy is an alternative to a traditional linear economy where the product is manufactured, the consumer uses and then disposes of it. There are many examples of of the make, use, dispose philosophy in today’s society and the electronics industry and us the consumers have a duty to be more mindful of what we do with our unwanted equipment. At the end of the product life cycle we pass the product onto our licensed recycle partners for material recovery and re-purpose.

It is more important than ever before to achieve the highest level of reuse and recycle of equipment. Our fragile environment should be front and centre of our thinking when drawing up reuse and recycle policies.

How we're responding to Coronavirus (COVID-19)
Please continue reading to find out about the operational changes we have made to keep our customers and staff safe during the return to work period.

We know there is anxiety surrounding social interaction, so we have introduced our new COVID-19 social distancing and hygiene policy.
Our new policy allows us to make our collections whilst maintaining social distancing.
We are completely paperless so nothing is passed between us. All documentation is emailed to you prior to collection.
We are continually monitoring the guidelines and advice provided by the UK Government and Public Health England and will review and update our policy as necessary.

We would like to thank all our customers that have used us in this very difficult time. Thank you for trusting in us to keep everyone safe while we conduct our business in a responsible way.

COVID-19 Health and Safety policy

  1. All our vehicles are disinfected each morning.
  2. Our drivers will regularly use hand sanitiser upon entering and leaving the vehicle.
  3. After each collection, anti-bacterial wipes will be used to disinfect surfaces such as steering wheel, dashboard, internal and external handles, and door edges which may have been touched during loading.
  4. All equipment must be left at the exit or outside (weather permitting) to avoid the possibility of any unnecessary contact. We will telephone when we are on our way with an estimated time of arrival. This should give you time to move the equipment to an area where the driver can load. It can be left outside your door which can be closed before we begin loading.
  5. Always keep your distance. If it is necessary for you to be present during the collection, a minimum of 2 metres is required.
  6. The driver will wear a moulded twin filtered medical grade face mask for extra protection if social distancing cannot be achieved.
  7. No paperwork will be given to you. The Environment Agency waste transfer note (WTN) will be pre-signed by us and emailed to you prior to the collection.
  8. Our COVID-19 policy will be emailed out with every booked collection.
